This dish is a game-changer, folks. Back when my kids were little, I stumbled upon Chicken Lazone—though they immediately renamed it “Yummy Chicken” because, well, it is! This recipe became a weekly favorite and a sneaky way for me to get them to eat veggies. The rich, flavorful sauce is downright irresistible, perfect for spooning over everything on your plate. Traditionally served with pasta, I prefer pairing it with rice—something about that combo just hits right.

Course: Quick EntreesCuisine: ItalianChicken seasoned with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and cayenne, then gently simmered in a rich blend of butter and heavy cream. Get your taste buds ready… It IS in fact, Yummy.
Ingredients
Chicken breast tenders (family pack)
Chili powder: 3-4 Tbsp
Garlic powder: 2 Tbsp
Onion powder: 2 Tbsp
Cayenne powder: 1 tsp
Paprika: 1 tsp (see notes)
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Salted butter: 4 Tbsp
Heavy cream: 1 quart
Directions
- Preheat & Prep:
Heat your skillet to 325-350°F (medium heat if you’re using a pan). Electric skillets are my weapon of choice for this—they cook evenly and hold their heat like a champ. - Season the Chicken:
Toss your chicken in a large bowl with all those glorious spices. Mix until every piece is fully coated—it’s like a chicken spa day, but spicier. - Sizzle Time:
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in your hot skillet. Once it’s bubbling, lay in your chicken. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side. The spices might darken (almost like they’re burned), but trust me, it’s flavor magic happening. - Make the Sauce:
When the chicken is cooked through, add the remaining butter to the pan and let it melt. Pour in enough heavy cream to nearly cover the chicken. Flip those tender pieces to coat them. - Simmer & Thicken:
Bring the cream to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to mix in all the seasonings from the bottom of the pan. You’ll know the sauce is ready when it clings to the back of a spoon like a velvety hug. - Serve It Up:
Spoon the chicken and sauce over fluffy jasmine rice (my fave!) and add a side of peas or your veggie of choice. Bask in the compliments—you’ve earned them.
Notes
- If using smoked paprika, go easy on it to avoid overpowering

A Few Pro Tips:
- If you like extra heat, sprinkle a little more cayenne at the end.
- Leftover sauce (if you have any!) is phenomenal over potatoes, veggies, or even as a dip for crusty bread.
